The MSA 60 C-BQ has outstanding cutting performance and low-vibrations, and an impressive 40+ minutes of battery life on the recommended battery, giving you around 120 cuts in 4" x 4" (10 cm x10 cm) timber.

  • Runtime on recommended AK 20 battery: Up to 40 minutes

When using a chain saw, you must always take the correct precautions. Please wear the correct personal protective equipment before you begin using your chain saw.
  • Clothing must be sturdy and snug-fitting, but allow complete freedom of movement. Avoid clothing that could get caught on branches, brush or moving parts of the machine. Do not wear a scarf, necktie or jewelry. Tie up and confine long hair with a head scarf, cap or hard hat.
  • You must wear chain saw safety chaps or pants
  • You must wear CSA approved safety shoes/boots, non-slip soles with steel toe caps.
  • To reduce the risk of eye injuries, wear tight fitting safety glasses or a STIHL helmet system.
  • Wear hearing protection, for example ear defenders.
  • If working in an area with the risk of falling objects, wear a hard hat.
  • Wear sturdy, protective gloves made from a resistant material.

If you have any doubt about how to use a chain saw correctly or on assembly, we recommend speaking to your local STIHL Dealer first.

Please note you should never use a chain saw while on a ladder and should only use it in a tree if you have the appropriate qualifications.

This chain saw features the handy Quick Chain Tensioning system, which makes it very easy to tension the chain, without the need for any tools. Simply release the sprocket cover and turn the thumb wheel to loosen or tighten the chain.

You can easily check the level of chain oil in your chain saw with the transparent oil tank on the side of the machine.

Question: How long does the battery last?

A: The recommended AK 20 battery will last up to 40 minutes in the MSA 60, although this depends on what the tool is cutting.


Question: How long does it take to charge?

A: To fully charge the recommended AK 20 battery using the AL 101 charger, it takes 180 minutes, or to charge it up to 80%, it takes 135 minutes.

 

Question: What battery does it use?

A: The tool is powered by a 36 V lithium-ion battery.


Question: Are the batteries interchangeable?

A: Yes, they are interchangeable with other tools in the AK System. They are not interchangeable with the AP System tools.

 

Question: How long is the guide bar on the MSA 60 C-BQ?

A: The bar is 12"/30 cm long.


Question: What type of chain does the MSA 60 C-BQ use?

A: The MSA 60 C-BQ has a 1/4" PM3 saw chain, which gives a high cut quality with low-vibration.


Question: Do I need to sharpen the chain?

A: Yes, a dull chain on your chain saw can affect the performance of the machine, making it less efficient, so it's important to keep it sharp. This can be easily done for you at your nearest STIHL Dealer www.stihldealers.ca, or you can do it yourself using a file and guide.

 

Question: Can I replace the chain?

A: Yes, you can - simply visit your nearest STIHL Dealer for a replacement.

 

Question: What should I wear when using this chain saw?

A: We recommend that you wear chain saw safely pants or chaps, CSA approved work boots, a STIHL helmet system, and remember tie back long hair. 

Tips

#1 Cleaning your MSA 60 C-BQ

When you have finished using your chain saw, remove the battery and wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. Don't forget to wear gloves when doing any maintenance on the tool.


#2 Looking after your battery

Don't use a damp or wet battery in your MSA 120 C-BQ and avoid using them in extreme temperatures (very hot or very cold). 


#3 Storing your MSA 60 C-BQ

Store your MSA 120 C-BQ in a clean and dry area and keep out of the reach of children at all times.
